About the platform

This platform supports speculative-design research by presenting short illustrated future scenarios (storyboards) and inviting participants to respond to a structured set of questions about each future. Submissions are anonymous and stored on infrastructure operated by the research team.

The platform was designed and built by Kyle Montague and collaborators at Northumbria University. Its full specification, including data model, privacy framework, accessibility plan and submission pipeline, is published in the project repository.

Why speculative design?

Speculative-design storyboards depict possible futures in a way that abstract dilemmas cannot. By asking participants what they notice and how they feel about a specific imagined future, the research team gains richer, more contextual data than a binary choice could provide.
